Government of India to provide aid up to Rs. 15 Lakh ($22000) to Indian Inventors

Department of Electronics & Information technology (DeitY) has proposed new scheme titled as “Support for International Patent in Electronics & Information Technology” to provide financial support to Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and Technology start-up units for international patent filing to encourage innovation and recognize the value and capabilities of global IP along with capturing growth opportunities in ICTE sector. This scheme is applicable only for inventions which comes under Electronics/ICT technology domain and limited for 5 years i.e. up to 30.11.2019.

Refund will only be applicable to expenditures incurred from the date of acceptance of complete application by DeitY subject to approval of competent authority. Refund will be limited to a total of Rs 15 Lakhs per invention or 50% of the total expenses incurred in filing and processing of patent application up to grant whichever is lesser.

To claim benefits of the scheme the applicants are suggested to give complete details in prescribed format. Application for reimbursement will be accepted only if it fulfils eligibility and acceptance criteria as per requirements for considerations of DeitY. In order to apply user need to create user account from where user can login and apply online. But before proceeding to apply, read all the guidelines and check the list of documents to be uploaded during filing application form.
